Vacuum lifting solution to handle wind turbine blades

Aerolift designed a vacuum lifting solution that is able to demould and lift wind turbine blade up to 65 meters long! The lifter is engineered in the Netherlands and produced at BAS. Co. Ltd., our production and sales facility in China.

No damage to the surface of the product

In the original situations slings were used tor lifting. Regularly this lifting method resulted in damage to the wind turbine blade. For this reason, the customer was looking for a solution to optimise the lifting process. No damage to the load is one of the advantages of the Aerolift vacuum lifting solutions. Due to the soft Aerolift rubber and the divided surface pressure of a suction pad no damage comes to the surface of the product. Moreover, by vacuum the complete lifting process goes easy, fast, safe and with less manpower.

About the Aerolift vacuum lifting solution

The wind turbine blades have a length up to 65 meters long. For horizontal lifting, it is essential the wind turbine blade is stabilised. For this reason, the vacuum lifter is designed to operate in combination with a root lifter, which is place on the outer end of the wind turbine blade. Although the wind turbine blade is 65 meters long, the Aerolift vacuum lifter is only 6 meters long and able to lift products up to 8 tons. In combination with the root lifter wind turbine blades up to 16 tons can be lifted.
