Aerolift innovations

Over the decades Aerolift has developed into the leading company in providing customised (vacuum) lifting solutions for a wide range of industries. But what makes Aerolift different? What makes Aerolift special?

All Aerolift lifting solutions meet the highest standards of quality and safety. We have our own engineering department, production department, and service department. The complete design and production process are controlled in-house. And we have an organisational structure enabling us to design and build the most innovative solutions for complex situations. We are a Dutch Brand.

Aerolift is always evolving

To come up with the best possible handling solution for our customers, we are always evolving. Looking to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. All Aerolift lifting solutions are unique. A one of a kind, to always perfectly meet a specific situation. Originally Aerolift only designed vacuum lifting solutions. Due to customers’ requests, our focus shifted from solely vacuum to complete lifting solutions. Still, we aim to offer the same unique advantages, no matter if the solution is with or without vacuum.

Safety developments and innovations

We are always looking for the best possible solution which perfectly fits each specific situation. Mostly this means we must come up with new innovations. The developments make our products unique in the lifting industry. New developments to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.

Vacuum valves specially designed for safe lifting

Every Aerolift vacuum lifter is provided with an Aerolift vacuum valve. We specially developed the vacuum valve to ensure safe lifting even in the situations of a power failure. The Aerolift vacuum valve requires a positive signal to change its status. If during lifting a power failure occurs the vacuum remains ON, and the product will stay safely attached. We are the only supplier of vacuum lifters that guarantee their vacuum valve for at least 400.000 moves before overhauling is required.

Perfect seal for lifting operations

We own an exclusive Aerolift rubber which is the perfect seal for lifting operations. The rubber is specially developed and produced for Aerolift only. You can call this one of our secret ingredients! It is a natural rubber that is easy to compress and always returns to its original shape within seconds. Ensuring an optimum seal even after hundreds of handling cycles. Our rubber enables leakage free lifting even if the surface of a product is not perfectly flat, smooth, or free of bumps.

Less susceptible to temperature

Our vacuum lifters are designed to be less susceptible to temperature. Standard every Aerolift vacuum lifter operates reliably in a temperature range between -20 °C to +50 °C. If required, we can improve this range tremendously. In colder circumstances, we can place heating elements on essential components and the Aerolift rubber performs reliably in a temperature range of -40 °C to +50 °C. We also have a rubber quality that holds its integrity in temperatures up to 220 °C. Currently, we are developing a rubber quality that holds its integrity even above temperatures of 220 °C.

Safe release system

Additionally on the two-action control to release, we offer a safe release system. Every vacuum lifter is provided with a two-action control. To release two buttons are pushed at the same time, to avoid accidental discharging by the operator. The safe release system excludes human mistakes completely. During lifting the release buttons are disabled. Releasing is only possible when the product is placed on solid ground.

Intelligent overload protection system

A safety feature to detect the overload of each suction pad. If the maximum lifting capacity of one of the suction pads is exceeded, an alarm sets in. The overload protection system can also be integrated into the crane hoist.

Safety systems combined

We also designed a system that combines the safe release system and overload protection system. Combining the benefits to improve safety. An additional advantage, this safety system can be installed on existing vacuum lifters that currently do not have a safe release system or overload protection system.

Battery back-up pump

This small battery-driven vacuum pump provides enough vacuum to eliminate small leakages. Enabling hours of hang on time even if a power failure occurs.

Double vacuum systems

If extra safety is required due to the situation, we are able to engineer a double vacuum system. This system is mainly applied at construction sites. One vacuum tank is divided into two compartments. Both compartments are connected to half of the suction pads equally divided. If one vacuum system fails, the load will still be securely held.

Safe lifting of extremely heavy loads

For extreme circumstances, we can engineer every suction pad as its own vacuum lifting device with its own vacuum tank. If one suction pad fails, this will have no consequences for the other suction pads. It is an extreme safety feature that for example we used for a vacuum lifter with a lifting capacity of 85 tons.

Innovations around our lifting devices

All Aerolift lifting solutions are custom made for one specific purpose and are therefore unique. This means every vacuum lifter has its own engineering process to perfectly match the situation of the customer and optimise the benefits. Often this means small or big innovations. Below we tell more about some specific innovations around our lifting devices.

Paper grippers to lift packed paper reels

At customers’ request, we developed paper grippers to lift packed paper reels. All are unique and custom designed and over the years well accepted in the paper industry.

Reduced height of vacuum lifter for paper reels

For many years we have been producing vacuum lifting equipment that is used in automated paper mills. All vacuum lifters are specially designed to meet the paper reel specifications and other details for the plant in question. We are always looking for opportunities to improve. Therefore, we have reduced the height of the machine by 500 mm without the loss of safety or capacity. Which results in more storage capacity.

Vacuum pipe lifter for coated pipes

Coated pipes are often not airtight, and therefore can’t be lifted by a vacuum pipe lifter. To offer a lifting solution for the complete lifting process from plate to (coated) line pipe, we engineer customer designed pipe lifting devices without vacuum. The design offers the same unique advantages as a vacuum lifter. Think of easy and fast in use, no damage to the pipes, safe, and no one near the load in any part of the handling process. In this design, the lifting device positions itself perfectly above the pipes, after which clamping is automatically activated. We also designed pipe handling by coffins with fingers to be suspended from a spreader bar.

Basic design vacuum lifter

While each Aerolift lifting solution is unique in its design, we designed a basic design vacuum lifter. This is a result of market demands. The basic design vacuum lifter consists mainly of standard components, reducing production and delivery time. Still, the design of the lifter is extremely adjustable to meet customer requirements. The compact vacuum lifter is flexible in its use and design and offers Aerolift quality for a competitive price.

Versatile rental vacuum lifter

In addition to our existing range of rentals, we designed and built a vacuum lifter especially for renting purposes. The lifter is designed to be extremely versatile and applicable for products of different shapes and sizes. Perfect if a customer requires the vacuum lifter immediately or only for a short-time project.

Growing level of automation

To achieve ever safer and more efficiency, we increasingly design vacuum lifters that operate in fully automated situations. Think of lifting solutions for a paper mill or tunnel boring machine. Less human interference means more safety.
