Lifting wind turbine blade up to 65 meters long

Lifting solution to demould and lift wind turbine blades up to 65 meters long without damage. In the original situation, the wind turbine blades were lifted by slings. But this lifting method regularly caused damage to the surface of the wind turbine blade. We were approached to come up with a lifting solution that excludes this kind of damage.

Horizontal lifting without damage

No damage is one of the advantages of the Aerolift vacuum lifting solutions. This is due to the soft Aerolift rubber and the divided surface pressure of a suction pad. The length of a wind turbine blade demands a precise and totally in control lifting solution. Horizontal lifting is essential. Our lifting solutions consist of a vacuum lifting device that operates in combination with a root lifter. The root lifter is placed on the outer end of the wind turbine blade to stabilise and ensure horizontal lifting. Although the wind turbine blade is 65 meters long, the Aerolift vacuum lifter is only 6 meters long and able to lift 8 tons. Combined, the root lifter and the vacuum lifter have a lifting capacity of 16 tons.
