Increasing safety at the pipe yard
Vacuum lifters provide safety and efficiency at pipe yards. Likewise in this full storage yard with pipes stacked meters high.
Read moreThis customer in India is in the process of automating their pipe yard. Goals: increasing efficiency and safety.
Often mobile cranes with slings are used at a pipe yard. The downside of this lifting method is, the pipe attachment and detachment are done manually. Instead, this customer has chosen gantry cranes in combination with Aerolift vacuum lifting devices.
To save weight, lifting height, and costs, the wire pulleys of the gantry crane are integrated onto the vacuum lifter’s mainframe. Enabling the possibility to attach the vacuum lifter directly to the crane wires. Approximately saving 1 ton lifting weight and 1,500 mm lifting height.
The vacuum lifter’s mainframe is provided with three hooks. Enabling the option to use it as a standard lifting beam when the suction pad(s) are not attached.

In this situation safety was one of the key reasons to decide on a vacuum lifting solution. The second reason is efficiency. Attachment and detachment are safely done from inside the crane cabin. No one needs the be near the load in any part of the handling process. Which means no risk to life and limb. Increasing safety tremendously! And then there are the other advantages vacuum has to offer. Think of increased handling speed and no damage due to lifting hooks on pipe bevel.
