Loading and unloading ships and trucks

To load and unload ships and trucks, this customer uses lifting magnets. We designed a vacuum lifting device which will be used as back-up. If a lifting magnet malfunctions, the Aerolift vacuum lifting device is used.

Why magnets instead of vacuum?

At Aerolift we always prefer vacuum over other lifting methods, due to the many advantages. However, this customer rather uses magnets to be able to lift multiple plates at once. Still, we recommend vacuum due to safety reasons. A vacuum lifter only lifts one metal plate at the time. Perfectly safe and in complete control. When a stack of metal plates is lifted by lifting magnets, the upper plate will be safely attached, but the other plates are an overload and can come off at any moment. This is one of the reasons why we recommend using vacuum.

Positioning with minimum distance between walls and bulkheads

In the ship the metal plates are placed closely against the walls. And on the truck against the bulkheads. The length of the metal plates differs from 4,000 mm up to 16,000 mm. To overcome the length difference, we designed a vacuum lifting device with detachable extensions. This way, the shortest and the longest metal plates can be placed with a minimum space to walls and bulkheads. Just as the situation requires.
